Bausch & Lomb Z100™
Z100™ is the most advanced WAVEFRONT guided laser treatment allowing for the safest and most accurate laser refractive correction available today. The New B&L Technolas z100™ Excimer laser is the latest product of German precision engineering. The Technolas z100™ laser is the new and improved version one of the World’s most popular lasers, the Technolas 217™.
In 2000 the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the Technolas 217™ Excimer laser. The visual results using the Technolas 217™ laser presented to the FDA were 15% better than the FDA benchmark. The FDA visual results for the Technolas 217™ were significantly better than the US FDA study results achieved for the other brands of Excimer laser.
The Z100™ procedure customizes the vision correction treatment to each individual eye by:
- Being the 1st laser in North America with 3-D Iris Recognition capabilities that allow exact alignment of astigmatism treatment with pre-operative WAVEFRONT measurements. This ensures an exact match between the pre-op measurement and the laser treatment for every eye. This measures the precise rotational position of the eye during surgery by matching the iris patterns to the one taken during the pre-op exam. This allows the laser to correct for “cyclotorsion”- the slight rotation of the eye that can occur when the patient changes from a sitting up to a laying down position. (see diagram below)
- A Multi-dimensional Eye-Tracker that locks the laser onto the eye during surgery at the exact spot as the pre-operative measurement to significantly increased accuracy.
- The B&L Z100™laser provides faster treatment times and faster tracking for improved safety and predictability.
- The B&L Z100™ laser has one of the largest treatment zones available which allows the treatment size to be bigger than the pupil size at night decreasing night vision problems.
- Tissue saving which leaves 25% more tissue in corneal bed than previous technology.
